Whistler, BC – Well here we are in July and Summer has finally decided to appear. Better late than never. Spring skiing was interesting this year as temperatures were cold and mostly overcast with rain. We actually got snow in May more than once this year. So the spring skiing was good with the exception of the sun. Last official day teaching was June 6th but I did go up to the Glacier on June 25th.

Peak-to-Peak gondola construction is going full-tilt at the moment. The cable has arrived in Whistler and we saw them hauling it up the mountain. Apparently it takes 12 hours to get each of the 4 spools up the hill and then 3 months to string it all up.

Bike Park is great his year. Trails have been spruced up, the boneyard changed with a new biker-cross track. A couple of new trails are slated to open which will be great.
Spent Canada Day on “The Island” which was awesome. We had great weather and just hung around the dock for most of the weekend. Also went surfing behind the boat for the first time and that was a lot of fun.

July should be pretty busy in the park and then it’s off to New Zealand in August for 3 weeks of skiing with YES.
