Whistler, BC – Well, Winter made what looks like it’s final appearance on the weekend leaving us with 30ish cm to play in. Saturday was windy and as a result the Alpine was closed on both Whistler and Blackcomb which meant trees were the call on the day. Bark Sandwich, Fraggle and any trees off Crystal were in great shape with many a face shot to be had. Sunday the Alpine opened up with varying visibility. Anything off the Peak was the go. Knee deep fresh powder awaited us in V.D. Trees, Whistler Bowl was in the best shape of the season as was Glacier Cirque and Glacier Couloir. Sunday was also the final day of operations on Blackcomb. With all the great skiing still available it was sad to see it close until June. Sunday also signalled the end of the World Ski and Snowboard Festival which means the village will return to a state of normalcy for the next month or so.

With Winter making it’s last charge on the weekend, Spring made an arrival on Monday. Beautiful blue skys and the temperature warming up. The skiing is still great with all Horseshoes, Whistler Bowl and Mondays being some of the favourites. Lunch was had on the patio and the goggle tans are in full swing. Temperatures are supposed to warm up during the week, so the Spring skiing should be great. You can still ski to mid-station with relatively good snow.

The American Express Employees of the year dinner was on last night. I was representing Ski School, and a good evening was had. Unfortunately I didn’t walk away with the Grand prize, or any prize, but at least we ate well. The biking is starting to pick up with the first loonie race set to happen on Thursday. Should be good.
Ski School is winding down but with all the late snow, we should be skiing well into May. The Whistler Mountain Bike Park is scheduled to open on April 30th, stay tuned…...
