Whistler, BC – Greetings everyone. It’s been awhile since the last storm came through and knocked out our internet for 5 days, so here are some numbers for you. Total cumulative snowfall since Nov. 1st: 636cm (250 in), snow-base at Pig Alley (1650m): 234cm. What an amazing start to the season. Conditions have been great and the snow even better. We got over 40cm in the village and over 60 cm in the Alpine on Friday the 15th and that set us perfectly for the Symphony Express opening on the 16th. Friday saw delays in getting started as Patrol was busy doing avalanche control in the Green and Red zones!!!!!
Shoveling out 40+ cm, Whistler BC – December 15, 2006
The Symphony area is quite good. We got fresh tracks in Boundary Bowl before the first people got off the lift. :-) Snow was light and quite deep. It was good fun exploring the many trees near the bottom of the bowl. Headwall at the top is nice and steep, but after that the terrain is quite flat. It will take some time to figure out how to link up all the fall-lines. Overall, it’s intermediate terrain but worth checking out.

With more snow in the forecast, its just going to get better. So come join us in Whistler and enjoy the best Winter in memory. Happy Holidays to all and see you on the slopes soon.

Well Christmas day has come and Santa has brought the perfect gift of over 30 cm of fresh. No supervisors in sight for session, so I took a bunch out and what a morning it was. Fresh down Gondola lift-line for a warm-up, then breaking trail into Ratfink high, were face-shots were the order of the day, all the way down. (sorry, no photos, run to good to stop) That was followed by an Otto special, Paleface to Goat’s. Couldn’t ask for a better start to the day. Still snowing so it should be good again tomorrow. Updated numbers are: cumulative snowfall 665 cm (262 in, over 21 feet), base 255 cm (100 in).
